Başak Günak (IPA [bɑ: ʃ/ ɑk ‘/gyˈ: nɑ̟k /] ) is a sound artist and composer also internationally known as AH! KOSMOS in the field of electronic music.
Her work includes sound art, performance, sound installation, composition for theater & contemporary dance.
She released two solo LPs Bastards & Beautiful Swamp from Compost Records & Denovali Records and numerous EPs. Both timeless and otherworldly, Günak’s work unconsciously defies being tied to a genre, tapping into something beyond an immediate surrounding or experience to communicate something more transcendental.
Günak pursues her sound experimentations as a sound artist, composing soundscapes for theater, contemporary dance, film and visual art projects, and realising site-specific performances. Her works have been featured worldwide in art institutions, such as The Barbican, Gropius Bau, Berlin State Museums, Rotterdamse Schouwburg, Kunstmuseum Basel, Prague Quadrennial and Istanbul International Theatre Festival. In 2020, she has presented her latest solo sound installation THE WELL, a piece for 11 speakers and performance in ARTER Istanbul.
Performing solo or accompanied by a guitarist, she has performed at numerous venues and festivals including The Barbican (UK), Sónar Barcelona, Berlin CTM Festival, Venice Electro Festival, Tokyo Electronic Music of Arts Festival, ZKM Karlsruhe and ARENA Theater Festival Nuremberg. She has supported among others Sigur Rós and Jonny Greenwood, toured UK with Julia Holter.
In 2017, she launched FUU, a cluster that is conceived to flourish on the encounters between sonic and visual arts.
Recently, she has granted a residency in HELLERAU for her upcoming sound installation.

İstanbul doğumlu müzisyen, prodüktör ve ses mecrasına odaklanan sanatçı Başak Günak, elektronik müzik sahnesinde Ah! Kosmos ismiyle de biliniyor. Günak, Ah! Kosmos ismi altında ürettiği besteler ve ses üzerine çalışan bir sanatçı olarak yürüttüğü ses deneylerinin yanı sıra, tiyatro, çağdaş dans, film ve görsel sanat projeleri için ses mekânları tasarlıyor ve mekâna özgü performanslar gerçekleştiriyor. Sanatçının işleri bugüne kadar Barbican Theatre, Berlin CTM, Sonar Festival, Rotterdamse Schouwburg, Prague Quadrennial ve İstanbul Uluslararası Tiyatro Festivali gibi birçok uluslararası festival ve kurumda sahnelenmiştir.
Ah! Kosmos’un ilk albümü “Bastards” 2015 yılında Alman menşeli Denovali Records etiketiyle yayınlandı. Bir yıl sonra, LGBTİQ hareketinin önemli isimlerinden Boysan Yakar, Zeliş Deniz’in anısına Mabel Matiz ile birlikte yazdığı “Mavi” adlı şarkıyı yayınladı. Avrupa’nın en büyük gösteri sanatları merkezi olan Barbican Hall’da Jonny Greenwood’un açılışını yapan ve aralarında Sonar Festival Barcelona, Berlin CTM Festivali, Tokyo Electronic Music of Arts Festival’in de olduğu birçok yabancı festivalde sahne aldı. Canlı performanslarında Sigur Rós, Jonny Greenwood, Darkside, James Holden, Kiasmos gibi isimlerle birlikte sahne aldı. 2019 Kasım’da Hindistan turnesi ve 2019 Aralık ayında Julia Holter’la UK turnesini tamamladı. İkinci albümü “Beautiful Swamp” ı Compost Records’tan yayınlayan Günak’ın 11 hoparlör için yaptığı ses enstalasyonu KUYU 2020 yılında ARTER’de sergilendi. 2021 yılında Kunstmuseum Basel, Berlin Devlet Müzeleri, Johann Jacobs Museum için kompozisyonlar yaptı. Hellerau- European Centre for the Arts residency’e kabul edildi.
